AS SEEN IN:

The work you love is buried under the work nobody warned you about.

Most authors, podcasters, and creators just want to get their work into the world. But doing so means hiring a different expert for every step of the way — someone to edit, someone to design, someone to produce the audio, someone to write the proposal, someone to build the website.

The problem?

You end up spending more time coordinating the project than doing the work that started it all.

We do it differently.

At APW Author Services, we offer everything in one place — handled by a team of senior editors, audio engineers, ghostwriters, and web designers who actually talk to each other.

Whether you need an edit, a ghostwrite, a website, podcast production, or an audiobook, our job is to take your ideas, your writing, and your passion, and make them market-ready.

Because your work deserves to be seen, read, listened to, and remembered.

EDITING
$0.00

We edit books that are built to sell. Whether you're working on a debut novel, a memoir, a business book, or a children's series — and whether you're submitting to agents, working with a publisher, or self-publishing — every edit comes with notes on positioning so your book is ready for the market it's actually entering.

A few of the ways we work:

  • Developmental editing — Big-picture work on structure, plot, pacing, character arcs, voice, and theme. We read your manuscript as a whole and tell you what's working, what isn't, and HOW to fix it. Includes a detailed editorial letter and inline comments throughout. Best for authors who've finished a draft and need a senior set of eyes on the bones of the book before they revise.

  • Line editing — Sentence-level work on prose, rhythm, clarity, dialogue, and voice. We work line by line through your manuscript, sharpening every sentence while preserving your style. Best for authors whose structure is solid but whose prose needs to read at a professional level.

  • Combined dev + line editing — Many manuscripts need both. We can do them in sequence (developmental first, then line after revisions) so you’re supported through the entire editorial process.

  • Editorial assessment — Reading the first 50 pages and providing a written assessment of the manuscript's strengths, weaknesses, and market readiness. Best for authors deciding whether their book is ready for full editing yet, or whether it needs more drafting first.

AUDIOBOOK PRODUCTION
$0.00

We turn finished manuscripts into audiobooks that meet retailer standards and find listeners. Whether you want to narrate it yourself, hire a professional narrator, or aren't sure which is right for your book, we handle the production end-to-end.

Audiobooks are now 15% of all adult book sales and growing 13% year over year. More importantly, human-narrated audiobooks earn 7.5x more in royalties than AI-narrated ones. Listeners notice and pay for the difference between real performance and synthetic voice.

That's the part we get right.

A few of the ways we work:

  • Author-narrated production — You record your own book, and we coach you through it, recommend the right equipment, direct you during recording, and handle all the editing, mastering, and quality checks. This is best for memoir and any book where your voice IS the story.

  • Professional narrator and production — We cast the right narrator for your genre and audience and produce the finished audiobook from voice direction through final master. You pay per finished hour.

  • Studio-quality recording from your home — You want to record it yourself but don't have a studio. We help you build a recording setup that meets ACX, Audible, and Findaway technical standards using your existing space. Equipment recommendations, acoustic treatment guidance, and remote direction during your sessions.

  • Editing and mastering only — You've already recorded the book and need professional post-production. We edit out breath sounds, mouth clicks, and re-takes, master the audio to retailer standards, and deliver finished files ready for upload.

  • Distribution setup — Submitting to Audible (via ACX), Apple Books, Spotify, Google Play, Findaway, Libro.fm, and library platforms like OverDrive. We handle the technical pipeline so your book reaches its audience.

  • Hybrid arrangements — Some clients want full production for their first book and just editing support for the next. We’re happy to help you figure it out.

What's included in every project

Real audio engineers. Every audiobook is touched by a person who actually listens to it.

Retailer-standard mastering. Audible, Apple Books, and Spotify all have specific technical requirements (RMS levels, peak limits, noise floors, file formats). Every audiobook we produce meets every standard, every time.

Voice direction during recording. Whether you're narrating yourself or working with a professional, we direct each session so the finished audio sounds intentional and clean.

Real human producers. Real human voices.

Because 51% of Americans — 134 million people — have already listened to an audiobook. Your readers are already listeners. The only question is whether your book is somewhere they can find it.

GHOSTWRITING
$0.00

We ghostwrite books for experts, leaders, and creators who have something to say but don't have the time (or maybe the skillset — and that’s okay!).

Whether you need a full ghostwrite from scratch, help shaping a half-finished manuscript, or a collaborator who can take a stack of interview transcripts and turn them into a book that actually sounds like you, we do whatever fits best.

A few of the ways we work:

  • Full ghostwriting — You bring the ideas, the expertise, and the story, and we do the writing. Gleaned through interviews, outlines, and ongoing collaboration, the finished book reads like you on your best day.

  • Co-writing and collaboration — You write part of it. We write part of it. We weave the voice together so readers can't tell where one of us stops and the other begins.

  • Manuscript completion — Perhaps you started a book and got stuck somewhere around page 40. We're happy to finish it with you, in your name and voice.

  • Memoir ghostwriting — We help you tell your story by interviewing you over weeks or months, digging into the moments that matter, and turning them into a memoir that shares your legacy.

  • Business and thought-leadership books — For founders, executives, and experts who need a book that builds authority without sounding like a corporate report. We work with your speeches, articles, podcasts, and conversations to capture your words, ideas, and passion.

Every ghostwriting engagement starts with a conversation. From there, the work is built sentence by sentence until it sounds and feels like you.

Because your story deserves to be told the way only you can tell it — even if someone else does the typing.

PODCAST PRODUCTION
$0.00

We produce podcasts from concept to launch. Whether you're starting your first show, salvaging a half-finished season, or scaling a podcast that's outgrown your home recording setup, we handle the technical work so you can focus on the conversation.

Sound quality matters more than most podcasters realize. Audio quality affects listener retention more than the topic of the show itself — and most podcasts fade after just 10 episodes. Usually because the production work overwhelms the creator before the audience has a chance to grow.

That's the part we take off your plate.

A few of the ways we work:

  • Full-service production — You record; we do everything else. Editing, mixing, mastering, intro and outro music, transitions, level-balancing, noise reduction, episode tagging, show notes, and uploads to your hosting platform. You hand us the raw audio; we hand you a published episode.

  • Editing only — You handle recording and uploads; we remove the “ums,” awkward pauses, dead air, repeated words, and tangential rambling while keeping your voice and tightening the listening experience. This is best for podcasters who already have a workflow but want their episodes to sound sharper.

  • Launch packages — Starting a new podcast from scratch. We provide concept development, equipment recommendations, intro/outro music selection or composition, cover art, hosting platform setup, RSS feed submission to Apple Podcasts and Spotify, plus the first 3-5 episodes produced and uploaded. By the end, you have a working show with a workflow you can sustain.

  • Show repair and rescue — You started a podcast, recorded several episodes, and now have a backlog of files you can't bring yourself to edit. Or maybe your sound quality has declined and you need someone to take a hard look at why. We diagnose the problem, fix the existing episodes, and set up a sustainable workflow for you going forward.

  • Hybrid arrangements — Some clients need full production for the first season, then a handoff to a production team they hire later. Some need help only during their busiest months. And some need us to ghost-produce an episode while they're traveling. We’re happy to help you figure it out.

What's included in every project

Real audio engineers, not auto-edit software. Every episode is touched by a person who actually listens to it.

Voice and pacing preserved. Our job is to make you sound like you on your best day. We remove technical distractions, not personality.

Consistent delivery. Podcasts that publish on consistent weekly schedules grow audiences 320% faster than sporadic ones. We build production timelines that match your actual capacity so you can stay consistent without burning out.

Hi, I'm Andrew. I've spent 15 years in the publishing and audio industry as an author, editor, audiobook narrator, and podcast producer. I built APW because I kept watching writers and podcasters I admired get stuck between freelancers who didn't talk to each other. My team is a small group of senior editors, designers, audio producers, and writers who handle your work with the care it deserves.
